What is Biocote?
The
Biocote product ranges should be used typically where there exists high
frequency traffic, or in areas where special requirements have been
catered for e.g. Hospitals, Food handling where there is a potential for
cross-contamination by harmful bacteria.
Our
new, non-toxic, patent-protected additive, inhabits the growth of
potentially harmful bacteria and fungi, effectively providing additional
hygiene protection for workforces and business, particularly in the
Healthcare, food and education. This coating is provided as standard on
most major components of this range with the Biocote logo.
When combined with the range of fabrics, supplying you with the perfect
solution to the problems of solar glare and heat gain, and provide the
privacy required in the healthcare environment.

What is Biocote?
A
unique anti-microbial product solutions to minimise the risk of
cross-contamination.=
How long does it last?
Because Biocote is built into the material, whether it be powder coating
of polymer, it is designed to last the lifetime of the product. It will
not leach of migrate from the material and will not wash out or be
removed by cleaning process.
How is it applied?
This
depends on the product being used:
Powder coating: As the active ingredient is incorporated during
manufacturing process of the powder coating the Biocote powder is
applied in the same method as standard powder coatings. No change in the
process conditions have been required.
Gel
Coat: Again the active ingredient is incorporated during the
manufacturing process of the gel coat and it can be used in the same way
as standard gel coats.
Plastics: The Biocote is applied via an additive into the
moulding/manufacturing process and will therefore be present throughout
the material. No changes in the moulding conditions are required.
In
all cases there are no changes in the health and safety requirements
over and above standard manufacturing of the different types of
materials.
Does it affect the properties of the product?
Biocote has no effect on the mechanical or physical properties of the
treated product apart from imparting excellent anti-microbial
properties.
Is Biocote effective against MRSA and other antibiotic resistant
bacteria?
Yes,
Biocote does not function in the same way as antibiotics and therefore,
to date, no bacteria have become resistant to Biocote as they have
become resistant to some antibiotics
Has it been tested?
Yes,
all products are independently tested to demonstrate the effectiveness
of the product throughout its lifetime.
Which bacteria is Biocote actually effective against?
Biocote is affective against a wide range of gram negative bacteria as
well as moulds and fungi.
